Lauren Barbarian A SciFi Alien Romance Icehome Book 1 edition by Ruby Dixon Romance eBooks Reviews

Getting a branch of the original IPB series wasn't ideal for me. However, I am glad that I was wrong and absolutely loved getting to meet the clans of the lush tropical island.

Lauren has been woken up to a nightmare. It's years later than she remembers and now she's being told she was kidnapped by aliens and can't return home. However, the humans and blue aliens tell her she is no longer being sold to slavers (as was the original intentions of the aliens) and she's safe. Well as safe as a woman can be without her glasses (hehe I think of Velma asking "where's my glasses" when I think of Lauren waking up without hers).

K'thar is trying to keep his clan alive. After the Smoking Mountain let loose and killed many of his clans as well as the others, there are no females left and the clans are slowly dying. When a black rock washes ashore with not only one but two females K'thar is ecstatic to learn one is his mate.

Lauren has learned the effects of volcanic eruptions and knows the signs of an active one. She's made peace that she has a mate and is helping to care for an orphaned kit, but now she must convince all the clans they must leave the island or there won't be any clans surviving when the Smoking Mountain spews again.
This book starts when they're finally letting the captives out of the pods, and how they all reacted, and what exactly happened while Taushen and Brooke were away. First off, I'm so glad we finally discovered the secret of the island Josey saw way out at sea. It also does tie into events that happened earlier in the IPB series, and so it was nice that even as it's breaking off into a rather new story line, it's still staying consistent with the previous books of this world. Though at first I was a little miffed that we finally find the 4 armed natives that was hinted at previously in the carvings of Croatoan, and it turns out they also are blue with tails and horns, and also calling themselves Sakh. But honestly it was rather clever of Dixon to think about the different species mixing together, and who knows how other Sakh ended up on the island, but it's not really that far-fetched. Once I realized that it made me like it all the more. And again we're dealing with a human and alien overcoming a language barrier, and having to work together to save the tribe. It was developed nicely, and of course it sets up for so many more stories with the new Icehome tribe, and learning how they're going to come together and survive this new world they've all suddenly been tossed on. Lauren is likeable and practical. She's a little unsure of resonance at first but she doesn't put up a big fight with it, which was nice to be able to have someone just happy to have a man that's completely devoted to them. The set up of the island and the tribes with interesting, and of course leaves me wondering about the mysterious 4th tribe that no one meets. But altogether it was a fun addition the series whether Dixon wants to call in the same series or not.
I LOVE RUBY DIXON!!! Seriously every single book I've read from her dragon series to the IPB books has been freaking fantastic!!! This book was another killer, though I personally HATED Marisol and I hope to never see a book from her. I am excited to see more about the other alien races here; the red twins?! I'm dying. The beast? Dying. The dragon after Veronica? DEAD.

Please someone clean her house, care for her family, and feed her so all she has to do is write for the rest of her life, I am just in awe that she's gone this far in a series (okay, a bit of a break off, but still), and she hasn't hit ONE repeat story line or had a dud. Sure, there have been some I liked more than others, but that is because of my personal attachment to the characters, the writing has been amazing on every book!!! I've bought all the Fire books and I'm working my way through purchasing the rest of the IPB series as well. I'm so excited for this spin-off I feel like I'm a kid at Christmas every time I see another book of hers out!

Also Thank you so much for your KU access Ms. Dixon and the wonderful stories you bring to life!!!
So I loved this story. Wow finally got some answers to questions that were in the Ice Planet Barbarians series. So you might be reading this review to answer whether you should start this new series or not. So I would tell you honestly to start with Ice Planet Barbarians. It is a wonderful series and there are things in this story that will be more meaningful to you if you read that series first. You of course can start with this series if you want but some of the people will be a mystery to you if you do. Some of the folks in this story around the campfires come from the other series where this story originated from. If you decide to start with that one then you need to read through book 16 then Icehome book one is next.Which ever way you choose I think you will love this story. It is a definite keeper.
The story is about Lauren and Kthar. I loved Kthar he was by far the best barbarian so far. I loved how the author put the characters on the island in the middle of the ocean and how she tied so much from the original series into this book. It was very well done and had me on the edge of my seat for the whole thing. Just loved this story. So this is my new favorite story. Yeah say that about all the books I read in theses series. It is not might fault they just keep getting better.

I would love to know if anyone out there knows the authors other penn name. I have searched with little luck. Of course I am not great with the internet so that could be the problem. Any ideas I would love to hear from you. Please just leave a comment if you know. Thanks..
