Until I'm Yours The Bennett Series Kennedy Ryan 9781455537518 Books
Until I’m Yours is the fourth book in the Bennett series by Kennedy Ryan. If you are unfamiliar with the series, the first two books are a duology (book 1 When You Are Mine ends on a cliffhanger of sorts, and book 2 Loving You Always completes that couple romance), followed by a standalone book 3 (Be Mine Forever) and this one, also standalone. I don’t want to give away too much of the first 3 books as they are all wonderful reads (it’s one of the few series where I chose to read book one right away even knowing it would have a cliffhanger ending!) But Sofie, the heroine of this book is the ex-girlfriend of the main character of book 1, Walsh, and still remains friends with him, as their friendship existed since childhood and survived their short relationship. This is one of those situations where we saw only the one side of Sofie before now – the bitchy, entitled side. But we all know there are two sides to every story, and this time we get to see what made her who she is. She’s a wealthy woman, a gorgeous supermodel, a woman who is untouchable (or so it seems), until she meets Trevor Bishop. Trevor first sees Sofie in all her naked splendour on a billboard for a cosmetics company (tastefully covered of course) and is struck by her beauty. But meeting her in person, he can see right away that the face she portrays to the public is a shell, one he is determined to crack. Sofie’s father and Walsh Bennett work for Walsh’s father, and Trevor is considering a business contract with them (in fact Sofie’s father wants her to reel him in, using her beauty to convince Trevor to invest with them). Trevor is intrigued by Sofie, a woman trying to find some way to fill the empty hours of her society existence by slowly getting out of the modelling business, and directing her energies at something more fulfilling. Starting her own company, she’s determined to prove to herself, and to others, that she’s more than just a pretty face. She has a reputation as a playgirl, a woman with a partying past and a less than stellar reputation. Trevor knows there is more to her though, and when a nemesis from Sofie’s past shows up, secrets that Sofie planned to keep forever come spilling out. Trevor must choose whether to cut his losses to maintain his own clean and above board reputation or prove to Sofie that he’ll support her, no matter the consequences.Every time I read a story by this author I think that she can’t possibly top it, that it’s one of the best stories I’ve read, and she consistently proves me wrong by upping her game with another heart wrenchingly emotional romance. Sofie is an ice princess, and whether you saw her as a secondary character in one of the other Bennett series stories, or you’re just seeing her now, it’s clear that she has learned from a young age to keep her emotions to herself. Sadly she’s learned this the hard way, by never having anyone (except for Walsh’s family and a few close friends) support her. Even her own parents are lacklustre in their acceptance of her, disapproving of her modelling career and her other choices in life. She’s a trophy daughter to them (a tarnished one at that) and they use her for their own devices, just as so many use her for her looks and celebrity, caring nothing for the real woman she is. As a result, she’s learned to keep her own counsel, and to trust no-one, her poor self esteem hidden behind a cold and untouchable facade. When Trevor walks into her life, she’s intrigued by him, but must remind herself not to fall for his charm, his ‘nice guy’ vibe making her very aware of how little she deserves him. But Trevor is persistent in his pursuit of Sofie, in believing she has a depth of character and a desire to do good in the world. It’s a desire that he recognizes from his own past, one that led him to bettering third world countries with his own efforts. While she is quite willing to share her body with him (sex for her being a commodity that doesn’t involve emotion), Trevor makes it very clear that he doesn’t want her body without her heart. He woos her, slowly but surely, and eventually she falls for him just as much as he does for her. They share some steamy love scenes that cement this bond. But what I really loved, what makes Trevor the ultimate book boyfriend, was his unfailing support and belief in Sofie when things got rocky for them. Events from Sofie’s past return, scandal stalks her, and through it all, though she expects Trevor to abandon her at every turn, he is solid as a rock. That, absolutely, is what made the story for me a new favourite. Instead of making the conflict one between the couple, the conflict is Sofie versus the outside world, with Trevor standing by her, and that was just such a treat to read. There were moments in the story that made me laugh, moments that made me cry, emotions pulled out of me left, right, and center. For an author to do that consistently with every story means that they have an understanding of their craft that few others do. I highly recommend this series, and this story in particular, if you are looking for a quality contemporary romance that will break your heart and mend it back together again. 5 stars.

Until I'm Yours The Bennett Series Kennedy Ryan 9781455537518 Books Reviews
This was my favorite book in the series! I'm really surprised because I was not a fan of Sofie from the first two books. She was really horrible, and I found it hard to think she could redeem herself. Getting to know the real Sofie made me fall in love with her. She was as mean as she seemed, but how she ended up being that way made a lot of sense. It also helped that Sofie also had a big heart. Sofie just needed to be loved. She found a special connection with Trevor. I loved him and how he supported her. I'm happy she got a sweet, but emotional story.
Another reason this was my favorite book was because it was in first person!!! The past three books were in third person. It was so much easier to connect with Sofie in this one because of the first person narration. Thank goodness Kennedy Ryan switched things up. I loved seeing how her writing evolved from the first book to the last.
Overall, I enjoyed reading The Bennetts. It was an emotionally charged series. That made it hard to binge read at times, but I'm happy I did. I loved seeing the evolution of the characters throughout the entire series. I also loved seeing Kennedy Ryan's writing grow.
It's purely a coincidence that I started reading this book the day before the 2nd anniversary of its publication date. I read the previous 3 books in 2015- they were actually the first books I had read of Ms. Ryan's and they turned me into a life-long fan! Anyway, I think I needed this break in between those books and this one, to give Sofie a chance to stand on her own. She wasn't the most likeable character to put it mildly, and I don't know if I would have appreciated her story as much if I had read it any sooner. Until I'm Yours will take everything you thought you knew about Sofie Baston and turn it on its head.
While this book does relate to the 3 other books in the Bennett series it could definitely be read as a standalone.
Once again Ms. Ryan has blown me with her storytelling. Sofie's story wasn't an easy one, and it's kind of crazy how relevant it is to what's going on in the world today. It'll open yours eye to a lot of things, and it'll make you realize that people really do show us only what they want us to see. There's so much more to people than what meets the eye and Sofie is a prime example of this. She's rich, beautiful, and glamorous. On the surface you'd think she had it all, but you'd be wrong. Sofie is scarred. She's been hurt. She has secrets that no one knows about. But she's so strong and brave. You'll be awed by her toughness, by her spirit, by her resilience. You'll be firmly #TeamSofie by the end of this book.
I can't end this review without mentioning Trevor Bishop! If I had major girl crush going on with Sofie, it was a total swoonfest with Trevor. I love a good guy hero and Trevor is such a good guy! I loved how he "saw" Sofie and didn't let her hide or shy away from him. He got her, and don't we all just want someone who gets us?!? There needs to be more Trevor Bishops in this world.
If you haven't had a chance to pick up the Bennett series, what are you waiting for??? I can't recommend all 4 of these books enough. The writing will captivate you, the characters will endear themselves to you, and you'll never want the stories to end.
