Book three in the Ordinary Days in Myrtle Hill Series is Marie Springfield’s story. Slip into your favorite reading spot and come along as Marie meets Slade Turner. There’s immediate attraction, soon to be enhanced by chemistry, and they share a common dream to right mistakes of their pasts. But, can romance be that simple? No. Past experience conflicts with the present and blocks the path to the fulfillment of their dreams.

As the story unfolds, Marie is honored to be Becca’s matron of honor. Still, as her heart burst with joy for her best friend, she struggles against envy and hides the painful emptiness she feels for herself. Three years after her husband’s death, Marie regrets her decision to delay having a child while she concentrated on building her business. Now, although her business is a success, her life is empty, and her biological clock is ticking. With no romantic prospects, she’s determined to have a child even if it means entering into a loveless marriage with the help of an online dating service. As Becca’s wedding date nears, Slade Turner comes on the scene as the best man. There’s chemistry and strong attraction. Is he the answer to her prayer for a second chance to have a family? She decides to give the romance six-weeks to develop. And, the embers of attraction flair. But before long, she finds herself at a fork in the road. One path leads to romance, marriage, and the family of her dreams. The other is a response to God’s call to help a young girl in trouble and a baby that could be a different answer to her prayer. How can she choose?

Slade Turner’s wife took off with another man, leaving everything behind including divorce papers ready for his signature. After dealing with the pain, Slade decided to go after the desire of his heart, a loving wife to give him children of his own. Slade has his eye on Marie and, besides being attracted to her, he finds her especially suitable since she has no children. But, Slade keeps fumbling his attempts to express his feelings, he doesn’t share Marie’s compassion for helping the ex-foster child, and he’s vehemently opposed to adoption. Can he win her heart within the six-week window of opportunity? Does he want to?

The Perfect Blend Ordinary Days in Myrtle Hill Book 3 edition by Deanne Durrett Religion Spirituality eBooks

This is the 3rd book in this series and it did not disappoint. The ending has a new twist that I did not anticipate but made lots of sense. I have enjoyed all of the books by this author and look forward to the next one. I grew up in this type of town and the people and places feel very familiar to me. I feel like I know each of these people personally. Very good read and would recommend it.

The Perfect Blend Ordinary Days in Myrtle Hill Book 3 edition by Deanne Durrett Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

I was given the opportunity to review this e-book. It is the third novel in a series, and I had a hard time getting caught up to who was whom. At any rate, the story revolves around Marie, a widow, and Slade, a divorced man. Both Marie and Slade had experienced love with other individuals in the past. Marie was desperate to have a child, and Slade was desperate to have a wife.

The story was fairly well written. There were some things that annoyed me a little bit about the characters. Marie was needy and naive, and Slade just wanted a woman. lol I wanted to shoved my hands into the book and ring both of their necks at times. D

Slade and Marie went back and forth with their relationship several times, and they had their share of problems to work through. The author did a good job of keeping the story line on a set track without wavering from the story’s theme. If you enjoy clean, contemporary romances, give this one a try!
I like to read Deanne Durrett's books--she writes contemporary Christian romances with a teensy bit of a twisty mystery in them and just enough tension to keep you guessing. The version I read had some typos in it, but Deanne assured me all that I have sent her will be fixed.

Now to the book Widow Marie Springfield is a successful entrepreneur with everything she wants except for a husband and children. Her husband died several years ago before they had any children. Now she longs for a man in her life and a baby to snuggle.

First, a man shows up--Slade Turner, the guy who will be best man at her best friend Becca's wedding. Very attractive, and apparently very nice.

Then a young woman happens into her life--a pregnant 18-year-old, Chloe North aged out of the foster care system. Marie takes the girl into her own home both to hide from the father's political family and to give her a safe place to live.

Did God bring a baby and a man into her life? Unfortunately, it begins to become obvious Marie will have to choose between the possibility of adopting the baby or having Slade in her life--who has found his way solidly into her heart. Now what?
Can two imperfect people with their own plans and agendas find the ability to set aside their own hopes and dreams to build a life together? Such were the questions facing Marie and Slade. The author did a wonderful job creating well rounded characters with believable struggles. The story also deals with the foster care system and what issues older teens face when they age out of the system. I also found myself wishing for a second hand store as unique as the one Deanne Durrett created in this book, complete with its own back room!

This is the third book in the Ordinary Days in Myrtle Hills Series, but can be read as a stand alone book. Reading the first two helps in understanding some of the issues mentioned in the story, but it is not necessary. But...be sure and go back and read them, because they are just as well written and enjoyable as this one is! I enjoy this author and I’m sure you will too. I look forward to reading more of her books, and especially ones in this series.

I was given a free copy of this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.
I had previously read and reviewed "Lucy's Mansion" by Deanne Durrett, so when she asked if I'd like to read and review "The Perfect Blend", I agreed. She gifted me a free copy of "The Perfect Blend" so I would be able to review it.

"The Perfect Blend" starts up right where "Lucy's Mansion" left off, with Becca McGee and JT Harrison having just gotten engaged. Marie Springfield is thrilled to be Becca's maid of honor, but she also is a bit jealous that Becca will now likely have another baby, while she is widowed without any children. She decides that she needs to do something about being childless. Slade Turner walks into her second hand clothing store as the best man in the wedding, but he has ulterior motives. He wants to get to know Marie. His wife left him for another man and now he would like what he's always wanted, a wife who loves him and wants kids. He sees Marie as the answer to that problem. So when it seems that Marie cares more about the pregnant, aged-out foster kid, Chloe, and her plans to adopt the baby, he wonders if they can get around this obstacle.

Marie and Slade are both in "Lucy's Mansion" so I'd "met" them there, but it was nice to get to know them a little better through "The Perfect Blend". I enjoyed the book. I felt a little bit like Slade came into the book already sure that Marie was the woman he needed, and felt a little short changed that we didn't get to see him falling in love with her. Towards the end of the book, he does show/express how much he loves her, so I felt better about that. I didn't guess what JT's suggestion to Slade as the solution to their obstacle and how they could make the perfect blend of a family. I would have liked to find out what the favor Slade did for JT was that made him leave town for a few days. I really wanted to smack Julia Monks and Trudy Fox for trying to interfere with Becca's "new money" again! I liked how Deanne Durrett put a "cast of characters" at the beginning of the book so you can be aware of who all the players in the story were.
I haven't finished this book on Myrtle Hill, but I have read the first two. I grew up in this "fictional" Oklahoma.
Deanne's characters are true to life. The story catches your interest from the start. Although I can almost
see the end from the beginning, Deanne might have a twist or two waiting for me. Can't wait to finish the
book, but wanted to send out an excellent report on it.
This is the 3rd book in this series and it did not disappoint. The ending has a new twist that I did not anticipate but made lots of sense.
